PACCA Names Award of Excellence and Educator of the Year Award Winners

JoAnn Marsh from Montessori Children’s House of Erie was named the 2010 Educator of the Year.  PACCA’s Educator of the Year award acknowledges outstanding direct care and education of young children.

“If someone would have told me five years ago that I would be recognized for doing a job I love to do, I would not have believed them.  This acknowledgement for over twenty years of being blessed to serve so many families and children is an unbelievable honor.  My thanks to PACCA, my peers, families and their children.” said JoAnn.

Rebecca Belski from Duck Hollow Discovery Learning Center was moved by the event as this year’s recipient of the 2010 Award of Excellence. The award honors directors and administrators for outstanding service and accomplishments in the field of administration.

“I am extremely honored to have received the PACCA Award of Excellence.  In August 1999, with the help of my family, I was able to purchase Duck Hollow Discovery Learning Center.  Since that time, it has been a pleasure to come to work here on a daily basis, to share my life with my employees, children, and parents,” said Rebecca. “This award validates what we have accomplished.  Therefore, I proudly accept this award, not just for myself, but for all the people who made this possible.”

PACCA's award recipients were selected among many nominees who represent quality early care and education  - a critical component to the future success of Pennsylvania’s children anmd families and today's economy. Children who participate in early education are more likely to graduate from high school, and become productive taxpayers.  Communities gain a more prepared workforce and save money on special education, criminal justice and public assistance.  Accessible, quality care supports low-income parents to find and sustain employment, strengthening the quality of life for our families.
